Aunt Irene's 94th Birthday Party!

We are adding this post to Dallin's missionary blog because Dallin spent all of this past summer helping to remodel his great grandparents' home so his great Aunt Irene could move in there with her caregiver. Dallin's dad told him that he would help pay for his mission if he would take on this project. This is the home Aunt Irene grew up in. Great Grandpa Athole and Great Grandma Amanda Milne raised 10 children in this house - five boys and five girls.  Great Aunt Annie was the oldest followed by Clyde, Lily, Grant, Jake, Grace, Pearl, Irene, Grandpa Glen, and Ray.  Athole and Amanda were married for 75 years.  They built the old adobe house (the one we remodeled) in the early 1930's and lived there until they died.  Grandpa Glen built his home right next to them in the early 1950"s so he could help take care of them and raise his own family right next door.

This is also the place Dallin and his family planted two gardens this past Spring and Fall.  It was a wonderful experience.  We really enjoyed working together as a family in it.  Our favorite part however was sharing the produce with friends and family!  Everyone loves the house and what we have done with it, and there is a really special spirit felt there.  It is so wonderful to have the blessing of family in our lives.

Saturday Aunt Irene's family held an open house for her 94th birthday.  It was a beautiful day, so we were able to sit outside and eat a delicious lunch and visit with family and friends.  It was so fun to see family we haven't seen in awhile and to meet Mary's children and grandchildren for the first time.  It was a perfect day!
